WEATHER
CONDITIONS
Weather conditions: |
| According to meteostation data, May and early June were cold, though snow completely disappeared on 20 May. Generally, spring was somewhat delayed, but summer temperatures approached multiannual averages. July was more rainy than usial, and more clowdy. Two instances of negative temperatures associated with snowfalls were registered during summer: on 15-16 June (dropped to -5^C at night) and on 11 July (-5.3^C). Strong wind was recorded once - 8-10 m/sec during day and night 24 June. Growth rate and phenology of dominant shrubs, dwarf shrubs and grass plants in tundra and marsh communities did not differ from usial.

Breeding conditions:
Arctic Foxes and Snowy Owls were not seen. A pair of Northern Harriers and a pair of Rough-legged Buzzards occupied territories, but, probably, did not nest. Skuas were only recorded as singles. Among waders on watersheds the most common were Golden Plovers, and then Whimbrels. Three nests of these species had chicks successfully hatched. River floodplain and gravel flats were dominated by Wood and Common Sandpipers. However, total density of waders was low both on watersheds and in floodplain. Judging by abundance of wader broods in late July - early August reproductive success was average.

Rodent dynamics:
| Numbers of Siberian Lemmings was low, like in previous year, according to data collected from 5 June to 5 August on permanent plots.
